Crew chief Tommy Baldwin and the Caterpillar Racing crew had high hopes for the weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway after capturing the pole at the track last season.  But things didn’t go exactly as planned, and the team struggled throughout the weekend.  After qualifying in the 41st position, driver Dave Blaney drove to a 33rd-place finish.

The Caterpillar Racing team followed up a respectable 16th-place qualifying effort on Friday at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif. with a 20th-place showing in the Toyota Save Mart 350 Sunday afternoon.  The top 20 effort was the fifth for the Bill Davis Racing crew in the past seven events.

Misfortune struck early for the Caterpillar Racing team during the LifeLock 400 at Michigan International Speedway.  Rear axle issues forced the team’s Toyota Camry behind the wall for a while early in the event Sunday, and despite running competitive times after the problem was repaired, very little attrition during the event relegated Dave Blaney to a 39th-place finish.
